- Someone e-mailed this to me today and I really loved it. Kind of puts the mundane duties of a housewife into clear perspective. Lord, may I have this perspective each and every day.
Dear Lord Jesus -
As I go about my housework
Let me see each job I do,
As a service for my King
And a way of loving You. -
Let me wash away my judgments
Of others right or wrong,
As I wash up the dishes
Place within my heart a song. -
As I clean up little fingerprints
And lots of muddy shoes,
May I remember how you cleaned the feet
Of the loved ones you did choose. -
As I mend up torn pajamas
And sew a button on,
Show me where I need to mend a breech
That's gone on far too long. -
Let me tidy up my thoughts
As I tidy up the toys,
Let me sweep away my fears
Like the dirt from little boys. -
May I be just as quick with my forgiveness
As I am with mop and broom,
Sweeping up the clutter
In my heart and living room. -
May I rinse out pride and ego
As I rinse the bathtub out,
And while we are at it Lord
Let's take care of anger, hate and doubt. -
Please remind me often Lord
That the way I'm called to serve,
Is an honor given me
And not below what I deserve. -
You know Lord, as I look
At all the work we need to do,
I think we'd better house clean
At least each day or two. -

Monday Fun Facts
I will often use this blog to post reviews of books, movies, restaurants and on occasion some pretty interesting and sometimes completely useless facts. So today, I chose to steal a posting from a fellow blogger......
Coffee Facts
- Coffee is a no-calorie drink
- It takes about 45 coffee beans to make one shot of espresso
- 400 billion cups of coffee are consumed worldwide, making it the most popular beverage
- Sprinkle spent coffee grounds around the base of your garden plants and it will stop snails and slugs from munching them!
- The US Navy used to serve alcoholic beverages on board ships. However, when Admiral “Joe” Daniels became Chief of Naval Operations, he outlawed alcohol on board ships, except for very special occasions. Coffee then became the drink of choice, hence the term “Cup of Joe”.
- Bach wrote a coffee cantata in 1732
- For reducing wrinkles and improving their skin, the Japanese have been known to bathe in coffee grounds fermented with pineapple pulp.
- Coffee, as a world commodity, is second only to oil
- Iced coffee in a can has been popular in Japan since 1945
- Regular coffee drinkers have about one-third less asthma symptoms than those non-coffee drinkers. So says a Harvard researcher who studied 20,000 people.

Today is National Carrot Cake Day!!
Carrot cake is devinely delicious and healthy! It consists of grated carrots mixed into the batter which enhances the flavor, texture, and appearance of the cake. The carrots are also a good source of essential vitamins and minerals! Happy National Carrot Cake Day!
Nuts, raisins, pineapple, and coconut can also be added to the mixture at the baker's discretion for added flavor. Carrot cake is usually topped off with white icing or cream cheese, but can also be eaten plain.

Carrots have been used in baking since the Medieval Period because they act as a natural sweetener. Carrot cake did not gain popularity though until the Second World War in Britain.

Happy birthday, birthday, birthday &... birthday
December was a month full of gift wrap, Christmas lights, ornaments, chaos, balloons, shopping, birthday parties, holiday carols & PRESENTS GALORE! Not only did we celebrate my birthday but we also celebrated Megan & Caleb's birthday! For those that do not know, we have three birthdays in the same week of the same month. Not only is Megan's birthday on the 26th but Caleb's birthday is on the 20th, which is also my birthday. Yes, you read that correct! Caleb was born on my birthday..and NO that was not planned. On top of that we also celebrate Jesus' birthday and Christmas. As you can imagine, this particular month is crazy, fun, joyful, stressed yet VERY BLESSED all at the same time. Thankfully with Walter by my side to keep me grounded and lots of PRAYER I have survived!!!
On this day, 32 years ago I came into the world. (My mother & me on the day I was brought home from the hospital ..was I a chunk or what??)
On this day 10 years ago, our little Megan came into the world. (The day we brought her home from the hospital)
Happy Birthday Megan

On this day 4 years ago, Caleb came into the world (Megan meeting her little brother for the first time)
Happy 4th Birthday Caleb!
Looking back over the years, watching my children grow.. the Lord has really shown me how blessed I am....how blessed we are as a family. My life is filled with many ups and downs but one thing is for sure.. I have a wonderful, healthy & beautiful family. No matter how we celebrate, no matter what present I receive...what truly matters to me is my God and my family. That is my greatest gift of all.
